Computer Science/Hour of Code

Hour of Code is a worldwide event in celebration of Computer Science Education Week. There is no specific time, but the hope is that students will have the opportunity to complete an hour of code within the week of December 4th - 10th. The Hour of Code movement aims to highlight the importance of computer science education for all students as a means of impacting the world in a positive way in addition to numerous career pathways. I appreciate that this event emphasizes the creativity and problem solving involved in computer science and not just the technical skills involved.

One of the biggest strengths of this event are all of the free resources that support it. There are videos, tutorials, how-to guides, “unplugged” activities that do not require the use of the devices. Pretty much everything you need to bring to Hour of Code to your students can be found in the links provided below:

If your school or classroom participates in the Hour of Code, be sure to let everyone know by registering here. Have fun and go forth and code!
